Evergreen Couple

I am not sure the usage of 'Evergreen couple' really exists, we all will use that phrase to define an elderly couple mainly of celebrity status. Here I am using it to talk about an elderly couple whom I met during my journey.

Last Sunday, I was travelling back home after attending one of my friend's wedding at Ernakulam. I like to travel in the public transport system expect during certain unavoidable conditions. I usually prefer solo travels, accompanied by music.

The marriage function was like a reunion. All of my old friends who left school a decade ago were assembled. We all belong to all sects of society - Doctors, Enginers, Bussiness men, teachers, and so on. Most of them are leading a family life.

Meeting them after a long time took everyone back to our school time. After being nostalgic and recreating the school time, saying bye was the most painful moment. We said bye after sharing our contacts, friend hugs with teary eyes and a promise to frequent meetings in future I left the convention centre.

I reached the Vytilla Hub, in one of my friends' car and I took Malayalees own Aanavandi, a Thiruvananthapuram Super Fast. I always prefer the 'Hot Seat' in KSRTC; unfortunately, that was preoccupied; hence I sat in the seat in the front row behind the driver. I plugged earphones with melodious romantic songs on my mobile phone and look straight to the National Highway in front of me.

I am not sure when the two elderly couple sitting on the seats on my left-hand side. Both of them are wearing the traditional attire of Kerala. Out of curiosity, I started gazing at them. The grandma was seated near the window seat and resting her head on the grandpa's shoulders, and both of them are listening to a song with earphones plugged in. The grandma's hand is clapped inside grandpa's hand, and he is playing the rhythm in her hands.

During my entire journey, involuntarily my eyes were falling on them. Different from the couples I saw before who were exhibitionist to show there affection. I saw true love, care, affection and trust in their eyes and body language. True to my heart, I felt so jealous towards that grandma for receiving the undivided love of her partner.

Watching them closely during my entire journey of four hours, I wished to get a partner like that grandpa from whom I can receive love, affection, trust and care.
